“We're not just running toward a low-carbon future because of climate change. We're running toward it because it's better,” said Climate Day keynote speaker and former EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. “Businesses are stepping up and saying that my customers and business must address climate change because it threatens our economy."
We were all inspired by Gina's remarks, but we are even more inspired by the action we are seeing happening in the industry right now! We just celebrated the project's first year in action, and you helped us double our Year One goal of reaching 100 companies committed to action. We saw 200 companies make over 730 commitments to action by Climate Day--that's two commitments a day for the past year!
We celebrated a few of these companies at our inaugural National Co+op Grocers awards ceremony on Climate Day, and we can't wait to see what we can work with you to accomplish as we set out on our second year!
Best,
Erin
