Proof in the Pudding: The Soil Carbon Initiative's Outcomes-Based Standard
Thursday, May 23
11AM PDT // 12PM MDT // 1PM CDT // 2PM EDT
The Soil Carbon Initiative standard (currently under public comment until May 6th) is one of the hottest new topics in regenerative agriculture. In part, this is because of its focus on practice-agnostic, “results-based” outcomes.
ROOTED’s May session takes a special look at this topic, with Sarah Andrysiak of Green America, co-organizer of the Soil Carbon Initiative standard. Sarah will explain the inner-workings of this standard and its unique outcomes-based approach. The specific soil health factors that are (proposed to be) measured will be explained in detail, with an explanation of why they were chosen. Discussion will also cover the mechanisms that companies might use to be able to measure those outcomes, and how companies could consider testing out this standard in their supply chains. Ample time will be allowed for Q&A, and group discussion following this presentation.
