In less than two weeks, we will be seeing many of you at Climate Day during Expo West, and we can't wait! So much care and intention have gone into every session, focusing on providing this community with the most relevant, up-to-date, and actionable insights to support your climate work.

If you are still on the fence about attending, here are some of the top reasons why Climate Day is relevant to everyone in the industry:

  • The community of 600+ people in attendance includes brands, retailers, distributors, processors, farmers, leading service providers, and more. From CEOs to climate practitioners, the room will be filled with individuals eager to advance their climate work with relevant information, a community of peers, and solutions that help navigate the complexity of this critical work.
  • Every year, we hear that Climate Day is the place to be for networking with other leading companies. We are told over and over that even the connections made in the hallways are such a valuable part of the experience.
  • You will leave the day feeling informed and ready to make more strategic decisions about your climate work, updated on what your peers in the industry are doing, resourced with new tools and opportunities, and without a doubt, surprised by many of the insights and updates shared.
  • Your attendance has the potential to deliver immense value. This is your chance to learn about emerging collaborations and partnership opportunities, and to sense where the industry is headed.
  • Climate Day is relevant to all companies, from those just finding their footing in this work to the biggest companies in the world that have set aggressive targets and are actively working to meet them.

The day is designed as a journey, and I hope you will have the opportunity to be with us from the opening through to the cocktail reception and Resource Fair. We will explore several new themes this year, including the critical role of culture, navigating the complexities of ESG, accounting for efforts at the intersection of climate and nature, the challenges of primary data in Scope 3 reporting, opportunities for collaboration, the role of nutrient density in accelerating climate-smart agriculture, and so much more.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Warmest regards,

Courtney

Save the Date for Climate Day 2024!

March 12th, 2024; Anaheim, CA

climate_day.jpg

Every year Climate Day kicks off Expo West in Anaheim, CA. This event brings together over 600 attendees from the grocery industry. Don't miss out! This year's program will cover critical topics in climate communications, ESG, regenerative agriculture, consumer engagement, and so much more! There will also be some new projects revealed and opportunities to learn more and engage in a number of partnerships.

Retailer Climate Action Accelerator Launching in May

In response to numerous requests from our community, we are launching an 8 session accelerator designed for the unique needs of grocery retailers. Each session will feature multiple subject matter experts who will connect directly with attendees. We'll address key climate issues in the retail sector, such as packaging, food waste, refrigerants, energy, consumer engagement, and more. Unlike webinars, these sessions will be hands-on, providing ample time to work through the questions and challenges you are facing in your work.

The complete program will be released in late March.

Our deep thanks to Dr. Bronner's for supporting this work!

The Landbanking Group

Regenerative agriculture is at a competitive advantage unless we show its economic benefit. Sourcing from regenerative farms means buying more expensive raw materials. In a price driven market, this means a competitive disadvantage. The Landbanking group has changed this by putting nature on the balance sheet.

Our flagship product, landler.io, empowers businesses to transfer the additional expenses associated with regenerative sourcing from the profit and loss account to the balance sheet. This not only lowers procurement expenses but also enhances corporate value.

Landler.io achieves this by accurately quantifying and visually representing the benefits of regenerative land use. Our approach is outcome-based, scientifically sound, and harmless cutting-edge remote-sensing and AI technologies. Furthermore, we offer an innovative financial solution that aligns with international accounting standards.

Exciting Opportunity to Access Matching Funds to Support Your Regenerative Agriculture Work

Thanks to a substantial USDA Grant secured by Wolfe's Neck Center in collaboration with Zero Foodprint, a significant pool of funds has been made available to support businesses in their regenerative agriculture work through their Action for Climate-Smart Agriculture project.

A total of $7.2 million is set aside by Wolfe's Neck Center for the implementation of regenerative practices, managed through Zero Foodprint. Additionally, there's $3 million earmarked for providing technical assistance and another $5 million dedicated to soil testing and monitoring efforts. This funding is designed to prioritize projects within the supply chains of companies willing to provide matching funds, even on a deferred basis. This means you could leverage $100k of USDA funds upfront, with a match from your company spread over three years, providing a flexible and accessible pathway to amplify your impact.

They are seeking food company partners with climate-smart procurement and/or Scope 3 targets. They will provide administrative, financial, and tactical support to deploy climate-smart practices and associated services within your supply network to count towards your targets.
