We believe collaboration is essential to accelerating climate action at scale, and through collaboration the grocery industry has the capacity to lead on climate action.
The Climate Collaborative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to activate rigorous climate action in the grocery industry. We remove barriers to climate action for companies through education, pre-competitive collaborations, policy opportunities, and a Commitment Program that provides high-impact pathways for climate engagement. Since the organization’s founding in 2017, it has catalyzed and tracked the public climate commitments from more than 760 companies. The Climate Collaborative currently works with thousands of brands, distributors, retailers, and associations to accelerate meaningful and just climate action and advocacy throughout the food system.
OUR VISION
Our vision is a world nourished by a just and regenerative food system.
OUR HISTORY
The Climate Collaborative emerged from a shared belief among leaders in the natural food industry that by working together, we could significantly amplify our impact on reversing climate change. This initiative took root from a conversation between Jessica Rolph and Lara Dickinson, who, despite being in different parts of the country, both experienced the personal and professional impacts of climate change. They, along with Nancy Hirshberg and Katherine DiMatteo of the Sustainable Food Trade Association (SFTA), formulated a plan to drive meaningful climate action within the industry.
In 2021, the Climate Collaborative transitioned to become an independent 501(c)(3) organization. This marked a significant milestone, reflecting the growth and evolution of the Collaborative from its roots as a project of OSC and SFTA (which integrated into the OTA in 2020). As an independent entity, the Climate Collaborative continues to drive bold climate action within the natural products industry.
All organizations listed on Climate Collaborative website have made a public commitment to climate action and have agreed to let the Climate Collaborative make that commitment public on our website and in our communications. This is in no way an endorsement by the Climate Collaborative or a certification of any kind.
